Best Time of Year to Visit?

Anytime of year is beautiful in Italy. But the best months are between April and October with the hottest months being July to August. If you are considering visiting the capital city – Rome then we would recommend between April and June (not during the hot months of July and August) and then from September and October.

  • Jovez  – just 8 minutes drive from the villa. Family run restaurant, English speaking, excellent food, great welcome
  • Il Vecchio Mulino – typical Italian food with a view of Civita di Bagnoregio
  • Antico Calaro – Excellent lunch menu, great value
  • Il Frantoio – restaurant built into the side of the rock on the site of an old mill
  • Il Ponte – Established restaurant located at the Palace at Lubriano
  • L’Orchidea- neopolitan pizza and fish is their speciality, well worth a visit!

Orvieto

  • La Badia di Orvieto – Refined hotel set in a 12th-century abbey offering a restaurant with a vaulted ceiling, delicious fine dining

Sightseeing

  • Civita in Bagnoregio – UNISECO Italian medieval hill top village, visited by thousands of tourists annually, its called the city that is dying “la citta che muore”
  • Castiglione in Teverina – Museum of wine not to be missed
  • Lake Bolsena – this is the largest volcanic lake ien Italy. Offers water sports at Capodimonte and the town of Bolsena dates back to Etruscan times
  • Orvieto – So much to see including the impressive cathedral, the Duomo and the well of St Patrizia
  • Viterbo – the Palace  –  Palazzo dei Papi
